AOL is promoting a Dave Matthews Band concert [channelevents.aol.com]in Central Park on 09/24/05. They will pledge $50.00 for every new subscriber of version 9, up to one million dollars toward the NYC school system.

So how much money are they REALLY making on users?

Does make you wonder doesn't it?

Personally, I've never used anything other than local ISPs. No amount of up-front money is going to 'win me over', nor is the 'sense of community' a feeling to which I see myself succumbing to easily.

Even though certain past associational ads are forever on film or will appear in re-runs, at least now we'll see the phrase "AOL Keyword(s)...." slowly dissappear from the media. Ahhhhh, life is good.

Pendanticist.

Up to one million, wow they're sports. Didn't Billy Gates just donate something like 51 million dollars to the NYC schools?

Bye-bye AOL
