Passwords in Ftp Client are encrypted for safety purpose.

But what if you forget your pass, you are stuck with
******. now since it's encrypted, the only way I can think
of is use a software that monitor internet traffic bit by bits.
and try to figure out the psw FTP client sends.
anything like that out there?

I know there is a powerful software called Proxomitron,
that lets you do a lot of things including modifying
http headers/contents, it also log all http connections.
you can even retrieve your http auth pass by looking
at the http connection log.

In most operating systems, the password is not really encrypted - just hidden. Do a search of the usual places and you will will find several password recovery tools that will quickly show you what the actual characters behind the ***** are.
