I couldn't answer this question based on the information you have given, but, unless this is a critical issue, I would suggest patience will allow you to avoid a personnel issue when your web producer returns from vacation ;)

ah, patience. a wonderful thing. since i am not "technically" savvy, but am responsible for the site, i was hoping for some language (or even a solution) to use to help communicate this problem to the web producer when he returns other than saying why do the menus stay dropped after you have scrolled over them.

what information can i provide that might help?

...saying why do the menus stay dropped after you have scrolled over them.

Say exactly that! Better still if he/she is sitting at your computer to see the symptom on your system.

villacongo, welcome to WebmasterWorld.

You want to ask about the javascript (most likely, but could be in Flash) that is controlling the menus. Either way, in many cases there will be a setting that controls the amount of time a menu will "stick" before hiding itself again.

Like willybfriendly said, if you can, show them what you're seeing - that's always helpful.
