What is the difference between them AFA SEO is concerned?

I have a couple of websites where each consists solely of a hosted WordPress blog and its associated posts and pages.

What is the difference AFA SEO is concerned between WP posts and WP pages?

When do I post and when do I create a new page if my main objectives are to achieve the best possible search engine positioning?

I'm sorry if this has been covered; I couldn't find it with my search.
