The name of the company consist of two words and they are both non-dictionary words.
When I do a search on Google for "company name" (two words, without the quotes), my new site appears on the first page but is ranked amidst a selection of assorted sites with "word1" and "word2" appearing somewhere on the text.
When I do a search on Google for "companyname" (one word, without the quotes), the first page is dominated by my own pages plus pages linking to my new site.
The term is totally non-competetive, so Iam assuming my observation is related to some domain factors - Google being unable to determine that "companyname" is actually "company name" because the two words are non-dictionary words.
The hyphenated version of the domain is available (company-name.com) and I already registered it. Now my question is:
How do I manage these 2 domains so that Google will become aware that "companyname.com" is the same as "company-name.com"?
1. Simply forward "company-name.com" to "companyname.com" on the registrar level?
2. Create a web server presence for "company-name.com" and 301 redirect to "companyname.com"?
3. Transfer the "companyname.com" site to the new domain "company-name.com" and 301 redirect the old domain to the new domain?
4. Any other suggestions that you know of that I don't.
