Today got this awfull new:

SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<my@email.here> SIZE=8244:
host mx1.hotmail.com [65.54.244.X]: 550 Your e-mail was rejected for policy reasons on this gateway. Reasons for rejection may be related to content such as obscene language, graphics, or spam-like characteristics (or) other reputation problems. For sender troubleshooting information, please go to [postmaster.msn.com....] Please note:
if you are an end-user please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for assistance.

Anybody experiencing this?
Does that mean that domains hosted in shared hosting services will not be able to send email to @hotmail.com users?
May you hosting provider fix that for you if you are in a shared server?

Sorry to say, you're pretty much screwed. There's nothing your host can do - the IP address is probably blacklisted (a good chance with shared hosting when you're sharing with hundreds of potential spammers), and even if your have your own IP, it's probably in a range that is being blocked

If you really need emails to get through you need a clean, dedicated IP address and a properly configured mail server (spf, rDNS etc.)

There is one other way around it which I found out about last week. I paid for a company who offered SMTP relay - this seems to have solved my problem for just £15 / year.

I had that problem pushing emails out through my ISP. I now use an smtp connection through the company that manages my domain name. The only problem now is that when I do two mail outs (magazine - one for readers and one for advertisers) AOL throws a wobbly and won't deliver to a single one of their addresses on whichever newsletter goes out second.

I wasn't aware of such a service. What do they do really just smtp?

I have just had this too. Plus a similar one for mail sent to Comcast.

The site IS on a dedicated IP, it is also on my own dedicated server, on which I know and control every site (though most belong to clients, not me) and from which no spam is sent. The server is in a top notch data centre.

I have checked every IP in the range and none are on any blacklists as far as I can determine.

Has anyone any ideas about how to deal with it?

Talked to my hosting company and didn't solved the problem. So perhaps moving to a new one is a good idea, I guess if your ip is new perahps you can send email correctly.
