I left this morning by 5am ET for a long day with a client
first thing first I checked my mail
about 100 spam stuffs and 30 virus
for the last days nothing out of the expected!

I am just back 9.30pm about 150 spams and 50 virus

all of them using my road runner (rochester NY address)

no one get me from the webs I managed (contact web master etc..)

I contacted RR, no one is able to even understand what I speak about, they read answers out of a book....!

I feel unable to take care of myself and very much more than agravated

is there anything I can do short of changing my main email address?

thanks

regards

Henry

Henry, since this started I set up a virus directory in Outlook, then established rules (with related subject and body text) that redirect the junk into its own directory - so I can manually review them in case a customer says 'Thank You!' and its diverted. ;)

Hopefully, we only have a week left of this mess. I'm currently at more than 14,000 in my virus directory, and "I feel your pain."

SoBig is expected to expire September 10:

You can make a rule like:

Where the Subject line contains specific words:
Thank you! OR
Re: details OR
Re: approved OR
Re: my details OR
Re: Thankyou! OR
Re: That movie OR
Re: wicked screensaver OR
Re: your application OR
Your details OR
Thankyou

AND Where the message has an attachment

Action: Delete it from server

>my road runner (rochester NY address)

I had a rochester.rr.com address for two years. It was constantly inundated with spam. I had to abandon it. Since then, no spam. No spam whatsoever.
So...

I don't know what it is about rochester.rr.com, but it was a big spam trap from day one for me, and I didn't even use it as my designated spam address.
Make a secondary address and switch people over to it. That's all I can say.
My Outlook spam rule: If it's sent to my rochester.rr.com address, move it to deleted items because there's a 90% chance it's spam.
Eventually, I deleted the address.

Use Qurb! If you have Outlook, that is.

It installs as an add-on to Outlook and moves spam to a Qurb folder. Compared to other anti-spam software I have used, its been pretty stability.

There is a shareware version of it on Qurb's web site. It is not limited in anyway, but does ask for money if you like the software.

I used to get about 60-100 spams a day. As of now, I have yet to get a single piece of spam. As for false-positives, in two months use, only about 3 of them.

I would highly recommend them. Unfortunately, they do not have a version for Outlook Express.
