Still looking for ways to manage ever-increasing volumes of email spam. I am using Mailwasher which is pretty good but I have just read in the Times about Mailsnare. It looks pretty good ( and good value) Has anyone used it?
Can I use it to blacklist and eliminate spam from my existing email provider?

...never tried that one, but am having success using a combination of MailWasher and the Bayesian mail classification tool POPFile. They're quite a powerful combination, but require a bit of tweaking to get them to work well together.

Cheers Bill.
Just to let you know that I am giving the mailsnare 30 day free trial a go and I am fairly impressed. Also using it in conjunction with Mailwasher till I get all the filters up and running.

I used IHATESPAM by Sunbet Software [sunbeltsoftware.com ]. Its not that bad. Its a one time fee, SPAM updates are monthly, and all members act like a consordium when they submit messages that they were SPAMED by. Not a bad deal. Here's the direct link to Amazon [amazon.com ], but you can also buy it from Dell direct, Wal-mart, and most other computer oriented sites. Its like $18 USD new, and like $12 USD used. I saw it on TechTV, so I tried it. Works for me, but be your own judge I guess.

Anyone got experience running their mail through spamcop.net?

There's a POP3 type thing, it seems okay initially and they do have a very large spam database, so i would suspect it was a good option, but i'd like to hear from someone doing it before i sign up.

I have been using SpamCop for about 3 months. Having used both Mailwasher and Cloudmark before that, I am much happier with Spamcop.

You have a spam file on their site, that you can access if you want to check the stuff flagged as spam.

I had to loosen some of the spam definitions in order that I could get form mail delivered from my own site!, but apart from that small blip it has been great.

Your life is your own again when you get rid of the spam :)
