I am trying to create a site index for my website that lists all of our items and contains hyper links to the item pages. I have downloaded alot of software and cannot figure it out....
Most of the places say I have to have my website on MY own server for it to work. I am no entirely computer illiterate but I have been trying for weeks and am getting no where.
Does anyone know of an easy, simple way to create a site index? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Do you mean a site map? Or are you just starting up and creating a website? If it's a site map, just type in the word: sitemap
into a search engine and it will give you info on sitemaps.
Or if you mean how to create an index page for your site, simply
create a file and name it index.html and place that file where all your website files are going to be in. The index.html file(main page) is the page where you will link to all your other pages.
As far as needing your own server, if you know how to run your own server then you can. Otherwise, you will need to find a webhost. That is a company that will provide a place on "their server" and then you can upload all your files to that area. That will then give you an area for your site to be online. You will of course have to pay them for the space they will give you. They provide the "server" where your site will be placed. It's not very expensive. Just make sure to review all the webhosts for their packages and look for one that provides good custumer support and uptime. Also look for one that gives you alot of site applications for you to use on your site.
Hope this helps you missamyb:)
