When I visit [networksolutions.com...] the web address (where you type in the domain) turns green.

When I visit my https it remains the normal white colour.

Am not saying I would want to, but how did they change the colour?

IE 7, Microsoft's newest Web browser, will show a green address bar only when displaying a Web site that has an "extended validation certificate," or EV SSL. This is a new type of security certificate being sold by the same companies that sell Secure Socket Layer, or SSL, certificates that allow traffic to be encrypted and that are indicated by a yellow padlock in Web browsers.

Just a note
This only works if you have the spam/fishing thingy activated.

I suspect the price will come down, way down in a year or so for EV certification

Right now, only about 300 companies are using this.

Its going to take a while before consumers are educated on this, so I am in wait and see mode.

Important to watch though - this could become a big trust factor in the future.

I would guess that it would determine how much it's hyped... most 'common' folks are just now learning about the "gold lock" - and even then I'd say a good majority don't even know how to look for that.
