Yahoo sending hacking requests?

Funny-looking requests from Slurp

Just found a 404 on one of my sites for the following:

http://example.com/subdir/function.fopen

The IP and User-agent match Slurp. Of course there's no referring URL.

I'm not sure what to make of this. I have never had a file called 'function.fopen' on my server and I don't really like seeing requests for it.

This seems like some sort of hacking attempt, certainly not initiated by Yahoo but possibly they're being used as a hacking tool. I've heard of similar things being done with Google.

Has anyone else ever seen this, or are there any ideas to what it might be about? A quick search really doesn't turn up anything useful.

Thanks,

Matthew

Keep in mind that Yahoo does operate some ISP business. For example, they are one of the biggest ISPs in Japan. Could it be an ISP user masquerading with a faked Slurp user-agent?
