MP3s - Stream through Flash, but prevent downloading

Issue regarding the prevention of direct linking to a mp3 file

Hello All, thank you for your help in advance.

I currently stream hundreds of mp3 files on my site using a small flash button called the Wimpy Button. It works well for me because its very easy for my readers to stream the music. All my MP3s are stored in a folder on my public_html so the flash player can get at them.

My issue is that if someone to view the source of my code, they could see the path of the MP3 file within the code for the flash player. If a user were to then type in the file's URL in their browser, they may be able to download it. This is problem for me because music labels trust my site to leak new music.

Attempted Fix:
I tried to disable hot linking using my CPanel, but then the flash player can no longer access the files. It must not send a HTTP request so the server does not recognize it as an internal request.

I tried to password protect the folder, however it then asks for a username and a password when the flash player is clicked.

I have used the search functionality in WWW and cannot find a solution. Can anyone help?

I don't know how to do this myself but I have hired Flash programmers to do this for me on a few sites.

Using MySQL they can disguise the path of the MP3 in your source code making it impossible to find, download or link to.

If I were you I would go to one of the freelancer sites and post your request to make your flash previews secure. It's not too expensive and is really worth it.

I agree it is completely worth it.

Can you recommend someone who does good work? Or a site that works well to find someone.
