Hello Everybody,

I have someone trying to show me a site that has the same url but four rotating landing pages. I told him that it isn't that bad for having it as long as the content and meta tags stay the same. I am wondering if I game him bad advice. I don't think I did but I am not sure.

Ummmm, if the content stays the same, then what is the point of rotating?
In any case, it is a bad idea to have the same URL resolve to different pages. If he needs to rotate the landing pages, they should all have distinct URLS (or pass a parameter in the URL to specify which page to display)

Rotation of the same content for title page is definitely bad idea from SE point of view.

The content at the URL does not stay the same; it's going to be different every time the spider calls.

Any decent listing will be more luck than judgement.

What's the point? It'll confuse human visitors and utterly floor the SEs.

SEO suicide, or what?

Much better to have one stable page at domain.com, and use them new-fangled hyperlink thingies to waft visitors to the other pages, at fixed URLs. I'm sure I read somewhere that sites are allowed more than one page ;)

OP:

Whatever, I think it's fairly unanimously a bad idea.
