The future internet will be in hands of companies?

Is internet for amateurs anymore?

In my opinion, the most important feature of internet is its accessibility. Anybody can make a web and show it to the world. This happens for the first time in History. And IMO, that is the spirit of this technology.
You do not need an advanced programming knowledge, only a basic HTML is enough.

But, is this situation changing? Are we going towards a more professional Internet?
The technology is developing and now there are more “tools” available: languajes (PHP, Java), applications (Wikies…), SEO, etc. etc etc.. These “tools” are not for “basic amateurs”. Can anybody survive today only with HTML? And tomorrow?

Internet can be very profitable. This attracts big companies. Can an individual even professional) compete against the big companies? Will Internet be in hand of big companies tomorrow? There will be place for “anonymous” editors?

Do you think the evolution is like this: amateurs -> professionals -> big companies ?

With wordpress, blogger, et al and alot of hosting companies providing wysiwyg page builders I'd say Yes. (people don't een need to know HTML)

The internet used to be for big companies, but now it is evolving for amateurs, and let me tell you it is a good and bad thing. Big companies will still have their place, but the aggregated voice of the everyday Joe is getting stronger and stronger.
