I'd stay with SEO, until the day comes that if sites are built, readers will automatically come without somehow finding them.

That's only a small percentage of sites overall, and junk sites are hardly likely to pay for SEO services.

They'll only serve the needs of visitors if they can be found, so SEO is definitely a worthwhile service for sites that need traffic and for readers who need to find them.
