I've had no trouble using my mouse with Redhat 9. Actually I use a number of them and they all work. Redhat autodetected most of my hardware. Did you have any other hardware problems that were not detected?

Red Hat setup for mouse's has a habit of auto selecting the wrong one. I would suggest that you run the setup program again and test your mouse before you hit the next button.

I have a wheel mouse as well and I have had no problems with RH 8 or 9 so I guess it could be a local problem. I would suggest using the Generic wheel mouse drivers as they seem to work most of the time.

Other distributions you should look at would be Mandrake 9.1 which is what I use and it is much faster and dare I say it "stable". Red Hat as far as I have seen is buggy so I would stay away if possible.

Red Hat is acknowledged the world over to be the best (that's why they are worth $225 million (NASDAQ: RHAT); are endorsed by DELL, Veritas, Oracle, &.; offer IT certification for their software; and are the networking backbone of corporations like Amazon.com). So...somehow the rest of the world missed seeing all those bugs.

It was an opinion. I know most of the time it is stable but it has never been for me.

Most of the Raq servers on the planet run a version of RH 7.3 so they are good for some things :)
