Thanks

Definitely possible. You can outsource it or have a program to do it internally. Google "email to fax" for many different options.

This is how I ran my first online ordering system back in the 90's. Faxes are relatively secure which is why this is a reasonable solution.

It also leads to pavlov's dog syndrome where you start to slobber everytime the fax machine goes off with another order. In fact, an email to fax gateway is the very reason I quit my day job. I was eating dinner and discussing quitting with my wife. At the end of the meal I decided that if I could get 5 orders while I was eating, I didn't need to work at my day job anymore. I'd heard the fax go off in my home office that many times as I ate.

If you're actually going to go to hardcopy fax, make sure you've got a reliable fax machine. It's possible that if the fax leaves the email to fax gateway but gets jammed after receipt at the fax machine, that you lose the order.

If you outsource the service to a company, they will usually have a history of faxes that you can check online, so you can go back and reprint if your fax had a jam.

Some are very full-service, offering e-mail-to-fax and fax-to-email, sending and receiving, with fax numbers in multiple cities (and even multiple countries).
