My client needs a corporate extranet with the ability for employees and selected customers to be able to view and upload / download files for collaberation within the company.

Need advanced features including user/groups/roles, access control, full admin capabilities, categories, statistics, etc.

Ideally in PHP.

What are the best, most full featured ones out there which are scalable and reasonably secure/high performance?

Take a look at dotProject. It's a project management tool but has file upload/download and access control, etc.
