Parsing news feed to create site content

I have a friend who runs a travel site. What she'd like to do is to use a news feed/RSS and parse it for place names, then provide hyperlinks in the feed to link to pages on her site.

So she gets the RSS feed from, say BBC or CNN, finds a story:

Widgetonian president on state visit to Elbonia

and she would like a way for that to be parsed for any words on a list (place names basically) and for hyperlinks to be created. Does this sound "doable"?

Doable but not allowable under most news agency TOS's..

It's important that people not abuse RSS or you will likely start seeing changes in what is distributed and provided by the worlds news services via RSS.
