The details on the deal are for the moment not posted on the BBC homesite but are available at the Guardian [media.guardian.co.uk] "A BBC statement said: "The memorandum of understanding will define the framework within which the companies can explore opportunities for the delivery and consumption of BBC content and the evolution of next-generation broadcasting."

Further details at the Guardian site ( no subscription required to read the article )...

Microsoft will also be revamping the BBC site and supplying search ..( and personally I hope that this will signal the end of the BBC forcing one to use the realplayer and it's attendant junk to download their content as podcast etc ) ...

Maybe this will also tame the tendancy at the BBC to have their "IT reporters" fawning all over Googles PR departments every word as they have done so in the recent past ..and maybe they will take a more objective veiw of the Google book scan project ..one can but hope ..

I doubt the webmasters at the BBC are keen on MS sticking their noses in but for the most part it sounds like political hot-air. The chances are little or nothing concrete will actually come of this.

I agree about Realplayer - I actually complained about it - but I haven't actually noticed a need for Realplayer for some time. But then again, mostly I just look at the news area these days.
