No acces from browser, but ping ok and directly form google toolbar ok

Problem with pc2 in a 2 pc lan

In a 2 pcs lan the pc2, which is connected to server is not navigating.
It's strange because email works in pc2, ping to known sites are ok,
even searching with google toolbar from Ie works but clicking any result
on IE, typing any address directly in address bar doesn't do anything (just
keeps waiting)

In pc there is "internet" but can't access any page. It's not an IE problem
because tried using other browser...

What is going on?

That is rather strange.

So you have a 2-PC LAN with PC1 acting as a server, and PC2 connected via a router/switch?

Are you using a static IP and if so, is your router/switch assigned that IP?

I'm guessing you are not talking about web-based email when you say that PC2 can access mail?

I have modem and pcs are connected thru the net card with cable, they have shared folders working ok. Pc1 shares internet connection so as it is turned on, the pc2 have internet.
In pc2 email works in OE ok. MSN don't.
Navigating in certain pages work but in others don't.
IE: searching in google.com works, but clicking any result not. Typing in address bar in IE don't take you there either in most of websites that I know are online...

Totally weird. I would be at a loss too if this were happening to me.

You said when you type in certain URL in the address bar of your browser, it just sits there?

What OS are you using? If Windows XP, check your network connection/local area connection settings to see what IP address and DNS configuration is setup for TCP/IP.

That would be my next step.

Is set to obtain automatically. I have win xp.
It's perhaps a hosts file problem?
I can navigate in some sites and not in others. But even in those I can't I see the website title...

Could be a host file problem. Have you checked it to make sure you're not limited to a certain IP range?

It wasn't hosts file but somebody came and fixed it, guess I'll never know exactly what it was.
