Long story short, I need to get insurance per a contract. Why would I need this and what potentially could happen that requires insurance for this kind of website.

1. Website only business.
2. original content being provided
3. paying advertisers (terms state liability is not more than the amount paid)

Call me dense, but other than theft of computers or equipment, I'm drawing a blank as to the purpose.

Lost revenue would be one thing... what if your site went down for a week?

If it's for a contract I'm going to assume that it's either a general liability policy that covers you for incidents on your premises, and/or a basic professional liability that covers things like errors and omissions, alleged copyright infringement, libel, slander, etc.

Since we are providing content that is possibly why they would need to know this...they just want to be sure we have some.

I'm not seeing how it all applies when there isn't anything really "tangible" to be insuring against.
Say the site went down for a week...how could insurance help? The income we make isn't a guaranteed amount...substantial, but no a guarantee.

Does anyone out there already have this type of commercial insurance for their web business and what are you covered for?

Thanks so much for the assistance :)

What do they say about the insurance?

What do they say about the insurance?

Exactly - what does the contract ask you to insure?

If it's not possible for you to determine that, speak to a lawyer. If it's not possible for a lawyer to determine that, then it's a badly drafted contract and might need rectification before you sign it anyway.
