Several of our sites were taken down this evening for several hours due to what appears to have been an outage on verisign managed DNS (AKA Network Solutions DNS)

[networksolutionsdns.com...]

We chose Verisign because of the following claim on their site:

100% Uptime Guarantee
Redundant Name Servers: Network Solutionsf powerful name server constellation provides guaranteed resolution of your domain names.

We checked our sites and verisigndns, com through several proxy servers and with DNSlookup tools. All were down and when our site came back up, so did Verisign DNS.

Anyone else have any experience of similar outages on managed DNS?

With regards to the 100%... I dont think its _truly_ possible.

While I think its innapropriate for a site to promise that, Verisign could have done some simple rounding. A lot of sites can promise 99.5%+, and actually deliver that.

Just my 2 cents :)

We had the same problem. Downtime was from at least 9:00am to 12 pm CT.

I haven't found any news of this on their website either. And so far they haven't gotten back with our networking managers either.

I guess if you guarantee 100% uptime, you can not tell anyone when it goes down... hmmm...

I spotted these a couple of days ago:

It seems that their DNS is not as bullet proof as they claim!
