How to "mail this article to a friend"?

What is involved in creating a little box at the bottom of
each page allowing visitors to mail the article to friend?

What exactly do you want to do, email the article or just email a link to it. I think that most pages only email a link back to the page and, what you then need to do is use your favourite scripting language (ASP, PHP) to send an email with predefined parameters.

You need to install a "Tell a Friend" or "Send this Page to a Friend" script which you can easily get free from many webmaster sites like hotscripts.com, etc
