I have three sites hosted with Britains "Largest Host". They have been there for two and a half years and to my knowledge there has never been any outage time. Then suddenly all my sites are showing error 400 and are off line for 24 hours.

I phoned the company and was told that my account had been frozen for non payment of a ( small ) bill. Apparently my credit card details had passed the expiry date and they had been unable to collect there money.

I updated the details and the sites were back up when I checked less than 5 minutes later.

What do you think guys? I know it was my own fault for not thinking to update the details when the card was renewed....

I sent them an email saying that "Whilst I accept that taking my sites down was an effective way of grabbing my attention.... a simple email reminding me to update my profile would have been just as effective and would have left me with a better impression of their business and the way they treat their customers.

I like this firm, no down time in 30 months and their tech dept is quick and easy to contact.... but I am feeling uneasy.

What would you do?

Both your guys fault here. They should have some reminder system or atleast have a way to be notified, i know our system does. But many systems do not so when it cant charge it auto turns it off and billing depts normally make the calls not you making the calls to them.

Atleast your back on without issues. :)
