Hi

Im looking at setting up my own web design company in UK and am looking for a decent reseller option that I can host all my clients sites on.

I have been looking at www.oneandone.co.uk, www.webfusion.co.uk, www.fasthosts.co.uk, www.hostway-uk.com.

There are so many options to choose from its a bit confusing. I think i just need a windows option wich supports ASP,CGI,PHP, unlimited domains, POPS etc.

Any recommendations?

thanks!

I use fasthosts. I think they have a low cost deal on NT. I've used them for about four years - no problems....yet!.

shouldn't really name names, but I have to say that Fasthosts are a nightmare... the mailservers in particular are very very unreliable and the support often unhelpful.

I know that slow mailservers can be a problem with shared web hosting in general, but more importantly, Fasthosts have a number of hidden conditions, which they occasionally use as an excuse to pull your website without notice - this happened to us 9 months ago and we never did get access to the online files (so lots of database info was lost). The condition in that case - no "downloads" is still not on their website, but as far as I can see they will use any excuse they can to pull websites which use too much bandwidth (our "downloads" were tiny, but the site overall used over 20Gb a month).

Hello hems77 ;) and Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

As I told a friend of mine, I am really happy with dedicated-servers (webfusion), and it seems that fasthost isn't worth the trouble. As for hostway and 1and1 support team well let just say they won't really support you in case of trouble.

Maybe because I have around 200 sites hosted with fasthosts and register thousands of domains I don't get the trouble mentioned before.

A friend of mine had 150+domains hosted and all his domain name bought from them but still had pb.

He is now transfering everything to another host - it must be because they are really cr*p.

Hope you won't have the same pb peewhy

Four years or so later and they are fine with me. No problems, no bad experiences, no bad advice, no bad support.

I don't want to get into a 'a friend of a friend had a bad experience.....' match.

Hems77 asked for knowledge and experience, I have provided that. From me, not a friend of mine;)

Thanks for your best wishes all the same:)
