Would you please explain Sub Domain. How can I be delivered by the spam mails that uses sub domain, i.e. when i block an email ID from particuler site, they just change the sub domain and keep sending me spam mails.

Moreover how many sub domains we can get while registering a domain.Keep in mind that I have been talking about Hotmail account.

Waiting for reply keenly.

Thanks

The number of sub domains are virtually unlimited.

There is a limit of 256 characters for a sub domain and the letters a-z, numbers 0-9 and characters (-, _) (not sure about the last one though.)

The spam senders can randomly create any subdomain. They are abosolutely free to do so. And when one subdomain is used up, they can add a second level, ie:

blue.widgets.com becomes:
very.blue.widgets.com, and then:
not.very.blue.widgets.com, and then:
white.not.very.blue.widgets.com ...

Unfortunately i am one of the few not using h.tm..l so i can't really help you on how to configure your spam filter.

I would suggest adding an asterisk (*) like this:

*widgets.com

- but i do not know if it's possible.

Usually adding an asterisk like this:

*widgets.com

- means that everything that gets put in before "widgets.com" will also count.

That is: Your subdomain will count as well as the main widgets.com domain. I still don't use h-tm--l so i din't know if it's possible, but give it a try :)

I have a web site getting about 3,000 hits per week and because of it's controversial nature I also got a lot of hate mail so I got fed up with it, and deleted the email addy all together to the webmaster- which is myself. And now I get letters from people using my domain name, i.e., info@domainname.com and the spammers use the same trick when the email addy is distorted in some way (which I do also). So there is no way to prevent spam mail unless you want to delete your domain name too.
