I just set up a wirless network and have my desktop hardwired to the router. I have noticed performance issues with the desktop now. It seems to be more sluggish and not as responsive as before. Are these two things related?
I have 512K ram, 120gig 7200

Thanks

Typically I would say no, especially if your PC is hardwired directly into the router.

Is anything else on your network using your desktop for any sort of services? DNS? File server etc? Did the slowdown occur as soon as you plugged the desktop into the router? If you unplug it, do you still have performance issues?

Have you installed any other software on the Desktop since you bought the router?

512K ram

I think you mean 512Mb Ram ;)
