A few weeks back, I came across a thread here on how to stop remote linking of your site's images....now I can't find the thread! (Forgive me if I 'm just overlooking it somehow...) Jdmorgan, I believe, provided some code to place into your .htaccess file using the mod rewrite engine...does this ring a bell with anyone?
I run a website housing a lot of images & lately I've been getting sideswiped by outrageous bandwidth usage coming from external sites (mostly message boards, forums) that link directly to an image on my site. Or many, many of my images...ARGGHHH!
Can anyone please help me?
Jason
Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!
I like the method posted in msg#3 of this thread [webmasterworld.com] the best - it's more straightforward than redirecting to alternate images.
