If I understand correctly you are asking why people don't go any deeper than than the first page of your site. They come in and then leave right away.

There could be many different reasons for that:
1) site navigation is unclear
2) you are getting traffic for unrelated topics and they didn't need your site
3) navigation could be broken
4) site does not work properly in all browsers
5) if you are selling a product or service your price point may be too high (or not high enough)

I think that you should always expect to see some percentage of traffic that leaves on your first page with regards to point 2 that oilman made.

People will do a search, your site shows up in the results, they click onto you site, it's not what they want, they leave.

I have yet to see logs for a site that doesn't have some percentage instance of this.

Elena, let me try to help.
1. What BlobFisk said was that every site has some visitors that just enter it and go away. The reason is that they expect to see one thing and the site appears to something else.
2. Is as you said the site is not yet submitted anywhere, do you have any idea where your visitors come from? It might help to answer your initial question.
3. Your site address is not in your profile (at least I cannot see it). If you find a way to communicate it to me, I'll be more than pleased to give you some optimization advice.
4. It looks, like English is not your native language... If you tell me what language you're most comfortable with I might be able to write the next message so that it would be easier for you to understand.

Apologies ElenaAllen if I wasn't clear enough, and thanks to StanBo for clarifying.

One tool you should look at for some language assistance is the Google translation [google.com], it may help when you hit a sentance that you can't fully understand.

ElenaAllen, I got your personal message, but it does not have your site url in it. And I can not see it in your profile until you have 100 messages posted on this boards. So please send it to me. It will help to solve your problem much faster. If I saw your site I could get information I need to give you the answers or recommendations much faster.

But some questions need to be answered before I (or any other board member) can help you solve you problem:

Do you know where have your webmaster submitted your site?

Can your webmaster tell where people come to it from?

Do you use any other promotion methods? Link exchanges? Directories? Banners?
