Before I was able to open folders on either of the
two ftp software I currently have on this box.
However since I have upgraded to xp pro I cant
open folders on my host site which normally enable
me to download stats from there. Only once was
this successful.
I need to download these stats daily because the
host will only keep a five day tally. Searched all
over but cant find a solution. I did go into the
advanced setting on IE and allowed the ftp to
whatever it is supposed to do, but still cant open
the folders.
Any suggestion? Anyone?
Thanks a whole heap.

You might also try typing "ftp://yoursite.com/ into Internet Explorer's address bar. After logging in, you should be able to save files from your server to your local machine with right-click - Copy to Folder.
If this works, it proves that IE's internal FTP client is working, and that something is wrong with the way that your other FTP programs are "hooked in" to your internet connection. You might want to try re-installing them, before reinstalling your OS!
Also, if you or your ISP are using a proxy or firewall, you may need to enable passive mode for FTP. Check that Internet Options->Advanced has the "Enable folder view for FTP sites" and "Use passive FTP" boxes checked.

Thanks for the reply.
I had gone through all the topics you suggested before I installed XP.
I even talked to the tech at HP/Compaq to be sure all would be well.
I looked at everything and saved all the info of the various problem I could
run into after installation. I had to revert back to win 98se. because time
was just about out after which I wouldn't have the data I need.
Another thing It appears that everyday I have to update the program,
because of fixes. No problem there. Problem I have is that Mr. Bill
$ates is making money at our expense and not passing some kind
of refund on to customers, since we are the ginnea (sic) pigs of his partially
proven products. Bless him. He wont and cant take it with him.
I will try later. Until then let me drive the old model T. Brmmmm Brmmmm,
that's me driving away :) in a not yet perfect solution Win 98.
