OK I know this is a very broad subject. But exsactly what is the going rate?

I'm sorta new to it and well the only associates that I know charge over $100,000, now thats pretty high end(most of there clients would be recognized by anyone who has past 7th grade) and well I'm no where near that catagory. But that leaves me pretty clueless as far as where I fit in. And judging by hte last meeting I had with a client well I think the price I quoted them was a bit high.. or at lest higher then what they were expecting.

Hi

Prices can very through several different reasons..

For example prices range from anywhere between 20 euro to 40 euro per hour of programming.

I normally charge anywhere from 200 euro for a simple site, up to 2000 euro for a completely dynamic site. there are many different factors to look inot including time it will take, what skills you are going to be using, the more advanced the skills the more the cost.

think of it in general... decide how much you want to earn in one month for your work.. then devide that figure by 4, that is how much a week, then devide it by 40 (an aveerage week) that is your hourly figure..

Decide how long the project you are working on is going to take, and make a decision on the price regarding your current going rate...

If a client wishes to use your services you will get the work, whether your bid is high or low.. I have seen it happen so many times, the company i have just finished working for payed a 5 figure sum for an intranet, which my 10 year old brother could have made.... Made completely with front page..

it all depends on your skills, your needs, adn of course your clients purse..

I hope that answers your question

Check out this thread [webmasterworld.com], and then try a search here for "hourly rate".

It depends on the complexity of the site,
If your a bank and you want to set up online banking,
or some other custom business web interface yes,
It could cost 6 figures. But most sites are nowhere near as complicated.

I do web design and also reseller web hosting.
So I offer clients a complete end to end package.

I usually estimate the time its going to take based on
the information I get from the client. Then I write a
proposal outlining the scope of the project and times in detail.
After the initial design I bill the client based on agreed monthly fee and/or hourly rate for updates and maintenance.

To give you an example I recently did a site which is about 35 pages of differing complexity. I charged $2500.

Hope this helps!

PS this is NOT a solicitation for work - I am booked solid.
