Hello SEO gurus,
I have recently just woken up to page ranking, search engine optimisation etc. I was delighted when I installed Google tool bar about 2 months ago to find that my site is ranked 6/10. Ever since I have be engaged in link building and other activities designed to get my PR up.

It looks like Google has just done new PR refresh today or yesterday and I am extremely disappointed that my site is still firmly rooted in 6/10. I am desperate to get the ranking up by 1 or 2.

Help and suggestions appreciated.

Temi, remember that PageRank is on a logarithmic scale, so it's much harder to go from the 6 you see now to a 7 than from 5 to 6. And 8 will be even harder!

But, PR is also not the whole number you see on the toolbar, so it may well be that you have increased it over last month, but not enough for it to have incremented on the toolbar.

Really I wouldn't get too focused on it. Build links and build content -- the better your content is, the easier it will be to get other people to link to you, and the easier time you'll have working with on-page ranking elements as well. Your PageRank will develop as your site does; just like you got to PR6 without giving it any thought or specific effort, you can get to PR7 the same way.

JayC,
Thank you for you response, I have come across you argument for a better content in another thread somewhere on this site, so I will take you advice and spent more time on contents and link building and less time PR watching :-)

Thanks for the advice.
