Who wants to bet that this is the real impulse behind the bill? I'm a very skeptical person about this kind of legislation ever resolving the spam problem. And I DON'T want to see guidelines for legally filling my inbox with garbage.

Now, that their spending huge amounts controlling spam, I'm sure they would simple love to have the government come in and regulate the internet, if it would save them money on spam-control.
I agree. I get a lot of spam from china these days... .163.com, some others... won't do anything about them. So all a spammer has to do is move offshore and they stay in business. You know, I have this mental image of spammers taking over an island in the carribean. I might just join the enemy!
But seriously, I think it is just feel good legistation... I do not see it being effective- or being ABLE to be effective. We are talking about basic slimers, even lower than the people who call you during dinner over and over...
