Hi,

Can anyone point me to a site that best explains how to buy, install and use virtual tour software? Is Quicktime VR the best way to go?

I have a client who wants a clock on his web site with a full, 360 degree view. I have just a photograph of the clock... Will I need to produce a video file or will the photograph be enough?

Please help! I don't have a clue about Virtual Tour software!

Thanks so much,
-Shawn

Welcome [webmasterworld.com] to WebmasterWorld, shawng39!

There are a few peices of software that will allow you to do this, QT being one and IPIX being another.

I imagine that one photograph will not be enough. Off the top of my head, I think that these applications run by stitching a number of images of the subject matter, taken from many different angles.

If you want an object that can be "examined" on all sides (like you're looking at an object on a pivot in front of you), than I think QTVR is your only choice... I think iPix and the others will only do "scenery" panoramas, where the effect is one of turning in a circle, and looking at your surroundings.

To put it another way, I know QTVR will do both "outside looking in at an object" and "inside looking out at your surroundings" perspectives. I think the other packages will only do "inside looking out" panoramas.

Wow! That's great! It is indeed something that will be "examined," much like the way car manufacturers are giving you access to the inside of their automobiles.

Is there a link out there where I could learn more about Quicktime VR -- and the costs.

I'd like to put the price into a proposal.

Thank you so much!

QuickTime is an Apple Computer product, so apple.com should have all the information you need in their "software" section somewhere. :)
