chat rooms for webmasters

Is anyone aware of a good irc channel/server
where webmasters can critique each other's work?

I know places like #html, #java, etc exist, but I'm
looking for something more oriented towards
marketing and search engine placement.

If there's not one yet - I suggest we start one :)

I'm not sure how many SEO's would be willing to take chances with dropping their url's. Many of the folks in here appreciate being able to ask questions without actually having to give their site.

While I like to think that most SEO's are good, we all know that their are some that still dabble with the "black arts". Unfortunately they ruin it for the rest of us, and make us somewhat cautious in sharing any information that may be used against us. Notice that many of the members do not even list their url in their profile.

Sucks it has to be this way, because I agree that it would be a good idea, and fun to yap with other SEO's about specific examples.

nquinn, I agree with stuntdubl. Much of disclosing URLs is based on 'concern of the unknown' and whether (gosh forbid) somebody out there wants to hone their skills on knocking out your website.

If you follow this excellent forum for any time period, you will notice certain members that stand out as knowledgable and looking for the long-haul, and then there are some that take a somewhat more radical view of SEO methods.

One thing you might consider, is monitor this forum often, and get a feel for the qualities of certain members you trust, then 'sticky mail' them and see if they would be interested in more of a one-on-one exchange of information.
