Traffic Suggestions for my client's website

Hello:
My client has a rather unusual and niche oriented website. I just took over and she expects traffic to go up. We are doing the overture, adwords and looksmart game but exchanging links has proven to be hearder due to the nature of her market base.

Would someone help me out identify other sources of traffic for this type niche?

While you should probably include google on the list, you should also try a banner exchange. Won't cost anything and you can track to see which sites seem to be sending the best types of users then go direct to those sites and see if you can get a relationship with them.
