One of my sites is very large in size and visits.
Evidently, for the last 2 weeks I have been recieving emails calling me Satan about the pop ups on my site.
Evidently, an ad company has been using my site as a target and producing pop-up ads to surfers.
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?
A general complaint board, group, etc?
I understand the Interstitial AD (IA) is served because of software downloaded upon the surfers cpu...hence, keywords are programmed into their system, the surfer goes to a site...if your sites keywords match the program BINGO...an ad pops for a competitor and your screwed.
I find this invasive, perhaps unethical and nefarious.
What's the input?
I don't think there is really anything you can do about it.
1) Ask the complainers if they have downloaded any of these "helpers" and/or toolbars.
2) Put up a notice on your site, if appropriate, and allow users to click to a page informing them of where these ads are coming from. You might even consider providing uninstall information. Helping your visitors is a good way to develop loyalty.
