Yes they've been testing it already, and there have been different discussions about it, i would really look forward to be able to access the internet on the plane, even though it would mean that all "top notch business men" wouldn't have any excuse anymore why they couldn't work on the plane.

hmm, what's new here? Is it just that reporters are finally catching on?

I was on a plane last week that had a data plug on the air phone. I think those have been installed for quite awhile on many planes. The phones themselves have offered to send email for a couple of years already. You can also get news, sports, and weather right on the phone lcd.

Why don't the airlines just come out and admit the obvious: "Yes, we don't allow people to use cell phones on planes because it cut into our $5 a minute air phone charges".
