Forum Moderators: phranque
Since the site is divided in a few major subtopics I can divide the site up to two or even three different sites/servers focusing on a different topic each, but all interlinked together to form one unified web entity. I am even devising a scheme by which the header of the pages will change slightly to reflect the topic (and domain) the viewer is in ("widgets" "widget info" "history of widget").
I own the plural and the singular versions of the domain name, so I was going to use them both. The goal is that I will be saving some money by buying another basic hosting plan instead of paying for the extra bandwidth on one domain. I will not duplicate any content, and the pages I will move to another server will remain with a redirect (or with a 301 trick--if I learn how to do it).
I have a PR6 on the existing site now, and by adding about thirty pages per month I anticipate my SE listings and the bandwidth usage to increase if I don't do anything.
I know it will be a major undertaking to split the site up, so I was hoping to get some expert advice (and maybe some tips) as to whether this would be a good idea in the first place, and what impact this could have in the Google listings.
Thank you in advance for any ideas,
Thomas
