I got hit with this virus through an attachment from a friend's email. A Jimi Hendrix attachment. I have run Norton and it locates the virus but it cannot fix or isolate it. I restarted the computer and Norton autoprotect told me that I was infected and what do I want to do. I said fix and it did and I thought it was gone until I checked latter and it is back. does anyone know anything about this virus and how to get rid of it? Is it a new one? Any help is appreciated.Thanks.

I had a quick look but didn't see that particular one but you may be able to find a derivative that will help you figure it out.

I got hit with this about a week and a half ago. It is kind of a bugger to fix. You can find detailed information about fixing it here : [symantec.com ]. The virus, however, will block you from going to this site or most other sites that can tell you how to fix it. You will need to access the page from a non-infected computer. It took me about a day to get it fixed. Most of that time was spent running different virus scans but eventually you have to manually delete some files, copy them in Dos, and edit your system registry. Hope you get it fixed.

I got it fixed. My Norton saved my ass and kept it from spreading.I ran the fix solution from Symantec and it fixed the file without having to delete anything. My friend who wasnt running any anti-virus software wasnt as lucky. First thing is I am buying a backup computer and only using Netscape email on it as most of these viruses come from Outlook express. I would love to get my hands around the throat who wrote this one.

Cyberbear, if you're looking for an exceptional email program immune to most of the recent email attacks, try The Bat! from www.ritlabs.com. It's not free, but very powerful. Hth.

The Bat is the way to go. Excellent email program and no virus prone like Outlook.
