A friend of mine just got a laptop with W98 installed.
Only problem is that it is in Swedish and not being Swedish, it isnt particularly helpful! :)
We have a copy of win98 in English, but are unsure as to reinstall it.
Can we:
a) change the language settings on the installed version to English, and if so how do you do it?
b) uninstall and reinstall the english version? If so, do we need a huge understanding of DOS to do it (which we dont have)?
Id appreciate any help! :)

International Options for your System [microsoft.com]
No modem installed on the laptop in question (another issue we have that is being hampered by the Swedish language and lack of installation software for the modem... :().
I need to find a way to change windows default language or an idiots guide to uninstalling (with pictures, preferably ;)) windows.
Ill keep having a look through the site though.

After you install an International Menus and Dialogs package, to change the language of your menus and dialogs:On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Languages button.
Click the Change button.
On the drop-down menu, choose the language you want.
Follow same procedure to change back to your original language.
I assumed it refered to viewing websites in another language, or perhaps the menu options in IE in another language, but not changing the language for the full system.
Am i wrong?

Installing the additional languages component in add/remove programmes.
Then changing the regional language (in the timezone screen in control panel).
But still Swedish.

Ill get a translation and try it....
...the default was already set to american english (but in swedish). I think that has to do with character reading or something...?
Ill go find my idiots guide...
Cheers for help! :)

To install multilanguage supportGo to Add/Remove Programs dialog box at the Windows Setup tab.
Click Multilanguage Support, and then click Details.
Make sure a check mark appears beside the language or languages you want to use.
Click OK, and then click OK again.
The changes take effect after your computer restarts.
