We have a page on our site that has one of the highest PR values for the site (6), and is in the top 10 of pages on the site. However the filename is an abreviation of what it's about (for example if it was about "red widgets" the page name would be "rd_wdg.asp"). Should I change the file name to "red_widgets.asp" or leave it in place as is?

To some extent the jury may still be out on this.

As for me, I changed all my old file names sometime back and have suffered no repercussions. The vast majority of bots/spiders have been shunted over to the newer names.

The logic of specifically naming files to reflect actual words/wording is sound, in my opinion. That, and it makes it much easier to navigate thru the maze of files you now have. Alphabetizing and such.

I did it in my .htacess files with PermanentRedirects and everything is fine.
