Finding out if I got penalized.

My sites have vanished!

Not sure if they haven't been indexed yet or they were and then vanished.

I am pretty sure I saw one of my domains ranked last week. A new one. But now, when I perform a search in google, there is no information. Noting. zip. nada.

I believe this has been asked before:
Does anyone know where to look? Is there an archive or a 'junkyard of websites' discarded by googlemen? sniff, sniff.

You can find some excellent explainations (including one for your problem) here [webmasterworld.com].

From Googleguy:

"If your site is new, or hasn't shown up in Google for long, it may because our "fresh crawl" (which runs each day) was finding your site instead of our main crawl (which runs about once a month)."

"Fresh crawls" are cancelled out by the new fresh crawl and people can see their sites dropping out of SERPs.
