the organisation i work for, host and manage a number of sites. all sites resolve on the same server, and all sites have in their web directory (root) an image named favicon.ico (all icons have been created in an icon making programme, not photoshop).
Now i thought that this was all you had to do, in order for the icon to appear in the address bar, or in your favourites (if added). But unfortunately it hasn't. Out of the 11 sites we have, only one of them produces an icon. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? or .... any help would be appreciated

IE will only look for favicon.ico when you create a fresh bookmark for the respective site. Mozilla, Konqueror, and possibly others will fetch it on every visit.
