I have to demonstrate an application from an E-Comm standpoint.
Basically this will become a presentation, but want to seek oppinions of other people that have been very helpful with other postings.
Please let me know what you would choose and why.

Thanks,

What kind or app? Shopping cart?

The type of app is wide open. I would like to use something more exciting then a shopping cart. I was thinking about software that renders products into 3d/VR. This stresses the importance of getting a product into the consumer's hand. But not sure if that would make the most exciting presentation.

Can you be a little more specific.

Have you got to demonstrate one you have built, one you can use online etc or do you have to take snapshots of ones on action. You may have problems showing all the facets of the site without actually placing an order.

It could be B2B, B2C. Thousands of lines or a small ecomm site.

From whoes perpective also, that would impact, users, admin, all.....

There will be people here who have done the whole spectrum, so I am sure you would get some recommendations but you need to narrow it down.

My other half went to CdWow and did a few searches etc and tried to buy a CD. It was not in stock anywhere in the entire universe. A month later she got am email saying they had located two copies of her Cd and she could order it from one of the different location (nearest one).

Now I thought that was fantastic service. She bought the CD straight away. So what about user profiling as a sexy alternative to your less than exciting ecomm site?

Cheers

Thanks for the help. It is something on the web, but doesn't have to be something I created, used or implemented. There isn't much detail as to from whose perspective the presentation will be for, but my assumtion is both the consumer and company (to simplfy terms) perspective. Meaning, how does the app improve/enhance the commerece aspect and what/how does it solve a problem for the company.

That is really cool about CDnow. I was buying something for a friend, and I really couldn't decide what to do. I spent around 5-10 browisng the site, I canceled an item I placed in the cart. Right before I left the site, I was offered a 10% discount. Not sure if that is an app, but it concinced me to make the purchase.

Appreciate your help.

Classic bit of sales phychology that. Tell em they are about to lose out.

Similar to a mate of mine who works the markets, he has a massive stash of good under the table but he keeps pitching

"last 10 boxes now,--- we are clearing them out at 1/2 price"

His hand gets chewed off. Then he re-stocks the table and away again. Oh yeah he has marked them up before had. People are greedy, they think they will miss out.

I guess the best way to ask this, is what is the coolest, groundshaking e-comm application you have come across. I liked the ad on yahoo for Porshe's new car at first, but was really disapointed when there was no interaction.

Thanks,
