While looking for places to list my site, I came across a directory the other day that is collecting credit card information using a simple form that posts the results to a .txt file. If I were dishonest I can only imagine what I could be doing right now besides fueling my addiction here at WebmasterWorld.

So far the credit card companies have been unresponsive, one didn't know where to direct my inquiry to and told me to "just look around their website" and I can only find an e-mail address for another.

I'm sure that there has to be minimum standards for online merchants. Any ideas?

You of course advised the web site holder of this by voice and e-mail right ;) heheh if not give me the url and ill contact them for you. Don't want that kinda information getting into the wild ya know.

Seriously, I haven't heard back from this company, probably due to the time difference. I just don't understand why someone would collect credit card information this way with all of the free services available.

Well, it sounds like some good citizens need to show just how dangerous the situation is...you know, tough love.
