Today, one of my friend received an email which is in a different language from English. We initially tried to translate it from online tools considering it as a source language out of the major european languages but it turned out to be some different langauge email. We could just make out one thing that it's an email regarding his business - so I guess the mail is important. Anyone knows how to find out the source language ?

can you post a few words from the text ?
Don't give away the content, just enough to see what language it could be.

Either post a few words here, or try the Content Analysis Language Identifier [xrce.xerox.com].

Thanks bird for the wonderful link - it says the language to be Indonesian. Are you aware of any online tools to get the gist in English for Indonesian language ?

This is what I find in my bookmarks. I'm not sure how complete they are, and your success may vastly depend on your industry and the number of (resp. lack of) uncommon words used in it:

German -Indonesian Dictionary [jot.de]
English - Indonesian Dictionary [balifolder.com]

Oh, and just for the entertainment value: Flirting in Indonesian [bluep.com] ;)

Bird,

thats a nice resource.

I tried some Chinese signs and it worked fine, even though Xerox said it guessed incorrectly.
