Strange user agent...

Having spent a bit of time going through my site logs and working out just who's been visiting, I'm stumped on one particular user agent.

It's being logged as "Keyword" and that's about all I know. It's visited four times a week for the last three weeks - just curious to see exactly what it is.

Cheers.

hi ritch_b,

it's not difficult to set your user agent to whatever you like. have you tried doing a dns lookup on the ip address of this agent?

...fraid not - our webstats are quite limited and despite ceaseless pleading, we can't get the raw logfiles at the moment...

...was wondering whether it might be some sort of spider, although I can't find any reference to it...

Personally, I'd never go with a host that doesn't give me raw logfiles. There's just far too much valuable information in there to ever rely on someone else to set up how it's interpreted.

I saw this in our logs a few days ago and it was coming from Looksmart.

Keyword
fdevoid2.looksmart.com
64.241.242.178

We have one page in Looksmart and that is what it grabbed.

Cheers peeps!

The lack of raw logfiles is a bit of a pain, but offset by the fact that we've managed to get our hosting and domain registration for free, with no transfer out clauses and plenty of bandwith - always a bonus!

Thanks for the Looksmart info - was one area we hadn't thought of looking into!
