Trouble with page optimization

I am having trouble optimizing my website and i dont know if im using the wrong meta tags or what. could someone explain to me what it means to optimize my website. Here are my tags:

You can get rid of everything but the title and descritpion tags.

For G, Title, h1 and description should be consistent. Incoming achor text should generally match the title and h1 tags. The keywords should show up in the text fairly frequently, though there is some disagreement as to how frequently. I find writing naturally works well.

<title>Blue Widgets History</title>

<h1>Blue Widgets - The History</h1>

<p><strong>Blue widgets,/strong> have a fascinating history....</p>

<h2>Blue Widgets in Mesopatamia</h2>

Lorem ipsum...

<h2>Blue Widgets and Alexander the Great</h2>

etc.
